Free Chinese Menu Translations

How it works

Providing all your dishes are listed in our database, creating the translation is easy enough.

1. Open the Create Menu page.
2. Enter your restaurant/café name.
3. Select your menu options.
   • You can add the Chinese flag to the top of the menu – and other options.
   • You can change the title of the menu, the default is simply "Menu".
4. Select your dishes from the drop down list.
   • You can select up to 3 extras which are included in your dish.
   • Dishes with filling options allow for as many options as needed.
   • A maximum of 16 dishes can fit on one page, if more are needed, repeat the process for a multi-page menu. (Note that this is not a guarantee that all menus of 16 dishes will fit onto one page, some choices might take up more space and upset this calculation, but 17 dishes will not fit.)
   • You can swap a dish entry for another menu title, allowing for a separate drinks section, for example.
5. If you want, enter the prices for your dishes. If left blank, the £ sign (and translation) will be shown with a space for you to write in the price. (Write the price between the £ sign and the Chinese character.)
6. Click Next, and download the menu in PDF format.
7. Then simply print off the PDF and have it available. From now on it is up to you.

You can also download and print off the "Chinese Menu" sign for your window, to advertise that you have a Chinese translation.

Limitations

• You can only create a menu using the items we have in our database.
  • This means that some more obscure items on your menu cannot be included. We hope that this is a minority of dishes, feel free to suggest new dishes for translation via our contact page. We will only add new dishes once we are satisfied with the translation.
  • Moreover, you will have to use the terms in our database. If your main menu phrases a dish as "Three home-made cumberland sausages on a thick bed of creamy potato", we cannot accomodate this, and hope that the term "Bangers and Mash" will be sufficient. A few duplicates have been included where two different terms are popular (e.g. Welshcakes and Bakestones), the translation might reflect the different name (e.g. Welshcakes emphasises the connection with Wales, whereas Bakestones uses a shorter translation).
• We are only translating traditional and established British dishes, this is not designed for cafés and restaurants of non-British food.
  • If you feel we have missed something out, please contact us via our contact page.
• Although we have accommodated filling options for sandwiches, this makes such items take up more space on the page, and the result might spill over onto the next page. Always check the result before closing the form window.
• All options are in a single drop-down list which might be hard to navigate. Use the View dishes in database page to help find the dish you want – they are displayed in the same order as they are the drop-down list.
