This map shews the areas covered by the traditional counties (defined by Definition A of the Historic Counties Standard), Historic counties (defined by Definition B of the same), and the Ceremonial Counties of England, the Preserved Counties of Wales, and the regions of Scotland.
Also shewn are the borders of the Vice Counties of the British Isles - those of Great Britain and the Isle of Man include the 3 mile maritime limit as well. There is a separate page which shews the difference betwixt the traditional counties of England (Definition A) and the shires as recorded by the Domesday Book of 1086.
